End of the Year

Just a quick update about my life -- since all of you wait with baited breath to hear about my daring exploits. I will tell you that this week is campmeeting here on the Hilltop. Busyness abounds, and tired young minds try to absorb a few last uplifting thoughts before they turn their minds to simply a vegetative state for the summer. I make my rounds attempting to challenge, counsel, encourage, and spur them on to greater things. :) Actually, I really enjoy my role during campmeeting. I get to reap some of the benefits of being in this position. All at once, in times of spiritual crisis, girls want to talk, and I love that! I love the privilege of listening and giving a few wise pointers here and there. :) It's lovely. Don't misunderstand me, I will be the first to admit that I am NOT a fount of wisdom. It's just nice to be that point person - one that gets to be in the right place at the right time. It is an amazing thing to sense God using you in the place where He has placed you. It is as if everything dovetails, and you feel that energy, that rush, that complete enjoyment in doing something you really, really love. Serving God is the most amazing thing. Living in His will is the highest form of enjoyment. I'm loving it!

So there you have it. The end of the year. Summer is a comin' in. Hallelujah.

You are so right about the fulfillment of being used by God.
Can't wait to see you in a few weeks. We have to play some Balderdash. I insist though that your Dad play with us.

Amen to that! It just wouldn't be the same without his incessant cheating. :) See you soon!

And I'll look forward to seeing you sing with your family in the church services online. Say hello to your family for me.

Enjoy your summer, Sonja! I surely agree with you that when HE sees fit to use us, it brings great joy. I'm glad you are there in the position of mentoring young ladies who are at such a critical time in life.

I'm so jealous: I want to play Bladerdash with Uncle George too!! No fair!

Now that my tantrum is passed, I lament the truth of 'best laid plans.' I had so wanted to come to at least a service or two of Camp this year, Sonja. But I lost a whole week to my yucky bp 'issues'! And I'm not sure how this week is gonna shape up, either. Now I'm even more behind with the kids' schooling! But at any rate, I surely hope to see you before too much longer. When exactly are you heading south for sunshine and breezes? Kelly and I are thinking of meeting up to take our kids to the new CREATION MUSEUM in Boone County. Actually that would be something all of you would enjoy. Anybody else wanna come along?!? (it's Education disguised as sheer fun!)

Love ya!

Tara,
I actually may come down with Brent when he sings at your church. I think he's going to, isn't he? Anyway, maybe I'll get to see you! Hope so.

Anita,
Who knows, maybe we'll do some singing. Not sure.

Laura,
Thanks. It's an amazing thing to truly love what you do. :)

I agree with Tara...NO FAIR! I want to play Balderdash with Uncle George! I don't think I have laughed as hard as when we played together! Great fun! Not to mention the great food by Aunt Ruthie! AHHH the good ole days!

Hey,
I just happened to stumbled upon your blog. I thoroughly enjoy your humor. It must be an odd sight to see one sitting at a computer (no one else in sight) and laughing out loud. :-) Thanks for the good chuckles. Take care of yourself. Enjoy summer!!!

Hey,I've enjoyed reading your last 3 entries (trying to catch up). THanks for your sweet comments on my blog! Cindy told me about your interesting day (the one you posted about making excuses). I have had similiar days. Mother's Day... Ryan got into the cooking oil and poured it all over his clean clothes and the floor. We missed Sunday school. Once I was sitting in the church service waiting for the "Mother of the Year" announcement, he wet his pants and of course.. my lap! So I had to go home, change mine and his clothes and then go back to church and pick up the family. I am laughing now. I think those days are so we can laugh later on. :-)

We don't need to play any games, just being together would be "pretty fine"(as my cousin's little son said this weekend!) Thankful you have ended this year on a joyful note..mostly just glad it has ended and you will have a good rest now!:)

Hey Sonja! So glad to read up on your recovery. I know it's been a long journey and honestly can't imagine walking it. But, you girl, do it with style (and a cool hat). I pray you find much R and R in your summer. I'm certain God is using you greatly to further the kingdom there but I do worry you work too hard.

WHAT ABOUT ME?? (BTW, I'm kicking, whinning, and doing things that my children are absolutely forbidden to do. ) I WANT TO PLAY BALDERDASH WITH GEORGE! I WANT RUTHIE'S FRUIT SLUSH! I WANT TO HAVE FUNNY BOOKS READ TO ME! I WANT TO TRY THAT MACHINE ON THE BACK PORCH THAT MAKES YOU WIGGLE AND JIGGLE!

so, sorry!

Anonymous said...

Actually, the wiggle and jiggle machine is gone. I know, what a loss. Sometimes it would be nice to turn the clock back for just a bit and relive those moments. However, it's also nice to have them neatly stored away in one's mind and take them out every once in a while to look at for awhile. (Hmmm, that was a lot of "whiles". I guess that's OK as long as they're not "wiles"...as in "wicked wiles of the devil".)

So good to hear from all of you. I'm working up another installment in the ongoing saga. I'm sure it will bless your hearts.

mmmmmmhhhhhhh.......Ruthie's fruit slush! That sounds so yummy!

I am eagerly awaiting the next installment. I'm becoming increasingly convinced that you need to write a book of some sort. You got it goin' on, girl!

Hopefully see you in a couple of weeks.
